Accutane Crohns Disease

Crohn’s Disease

Crohns disease is one of the most debilitating of all the Accutane side effects. Accutane Crohns disease is a form of Accutane IBD (Accutane Inflammatory Bowel Disease), a chronic illness that affects the digestive tract. Crohn’s disease causes inflammation in the lower part of the small intestine, or “ ileum,” and may result can affect any part of the digestive tract from a patient’s mouth to their anus. It is an extremely painful and uncomfortable condition.  Otherwise healthy individuals with no prior Crohn’s Disease symptoms have reported the life-changing diagnosis after treating with Accutane.

Symptoms of Accutane Crohns Disease include:

  • Intense abdominal pain and cramping
  • Severe, bloody diarrhea
  • Significant weight loss
  • Ulcers
  • Inflammation of the eyes and mouth
  • Fever

Accutane Crohns Disease Complications

Crohns Disease is difficult to diagnose and hard to treat. Sadly, it is one of the permanent side effects of Accutane treatment. The disease can be detected through blood tests, colonoscopy, and upper GI series tests. Crohn’s Disease can cause many different complications such as intestinal blockage, ulcers, and infection. People with Crohn’s Disease commonly develop nutritional deficiencies, such as in the amount of proteins, vitamins, and calories. Other complications from this disease include arthritis, skin nodules, and gallstones.

No cure for Accutane Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Treatments for Accutane Crohns disease vary from person to person. Instead of trying to cure the disease, medical professionals aim for relief of the symptoms of the disease. Some commonly used treatments for the condition include anti-inflammatory medication, special diet, and surgery to remove damaged intestinal tissue

As the link between Accutane and Crohn’s disease became increasingly more evident, the makers of Accutane were required to include the condition on its long list of Accutane side effects.

For many, the warning came far too late.
